What we do in a bathroom renovation
Once a bathroom is stripped back, the timber behind the walls and under the floor decides how well everything after it goes on. Walls out of plumb make tiling hard; soft floors crack tiles; missing noggings mean a vanity or rail with nothing to fix into. That timber work is ours.
- Wall framing and re-framing, including new stud walls and moved openings
- Shower and bath niches framed to your tiler’s sizes
- Noggings for vanities, towel rails, grab rails and shelving
- Wall prep: straightening and packing studs so sheeting goes on flat
- Floor and subfloor repairs: rotten joists, bearers and flooring replaced
- Doors, jambs, architraves and skirting to finish
What we don’t do
We are carpenters, not a bathroom renovation company. We don’t do waterproofing, plumbing, electrical, gas or tiling, and we don’t manage a whole renovation. We work alongside the licensed trades you or your builder engage, and we’ll say at the quote which parts are ours.
How it works
Send photos and a rough plan, or book a site look once the room is stripped. You get a fixed price in writing for the carpentry before we start, and we can fit around your other trades’ dates.
Where we work
Based in Mitcham, servicing eastern Melbourne from Richmond to Wantirna. Check your suburb.
Frequently asked questions
Do you do full bathroom renovations?
No. We do the carpentry side of a bathroom renovation only: framing, niches, noggings, wall prep and floor or subfloor timber. Waterproofing, plumbing, electrical and tiling are done by licensed trades you or your project manager engage.
Can you frame a shower niche?
Yes. We frame the niche to the size and height your tiler wants, with the noggings in the right place, ready for sheeting and waterproofing by the waterproofer.
Can you fix a spongy bathroom floor?
Often, yes. If the joists or flooring under a bathroom have rotted from a slow leak, we cut back to sound timber and replace it. The leak itself needs a plumber first, or the rot comes back.
Can you put in noggings for a vanity, grab rails or a heated towel rail?
Yes. Noggings go in while the walls are open, so fixtures have solid timber to fix into later.
